Hospital District Issues Statement Regarding Certificate of Obligation Process

El PASO, Texas – Today, the El Paso County Commissioners Court announced that the petition submitted regarding the Hospital District’s request for Certificates of Obligation obtained the required number of valid signatures. Having done so means the Commissioners Court is unable to vote on the request. Following today’s results, the El Paso County Hospital District team, its Board of Managers and in communication with the Commissioners Court and community, will evaluate its options and next steps in addressing its capacity constraints.

The Hospital District respects the process involved and has significantly benefited by spending more than two months sharing the details of our project with the community. In addition, the Hospital District appreciates the Commissioners Court review and assistance over the last several months.

With more than 76 community meetings accomplished, El Pasoans shared their ideas, insights, and support. The request included projects aimed at addressing fundamental capacity needs for the health and welfare of the El Paso community. We look forward to our continued discussions with the community on how best to address our regions current and future healthcare needs.
