El PASO, TX: The University Medical Center of El Paso Healthcare Partners Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Center has received notification of its membership into the Society for Vascular Surgery VQI (Vascular Quality Initiative) Registry; a first for the region. The center is led by Gilbert Aidinian, M.D., Division Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery for UMC and Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso (TTP El Paso). Dr. Aidinian is also an associate professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso’s Foster School of Medicine.

“It is with great joy I announce UMC is now part of the Society for Vascular Surgery VQI (Vascular Quality Initiative) Registry,” said Dr. Aidinian. “This is a great leap for UMC and TTP El Paso Vascular Surgery, since we are now part of the 945 participating centers in this registry and first in the region. It opens the doors for quality improvement in our institution, research opportunities for the staff and residents and overall improves the quality of vascular care provided to our patients.”

El Paso County Hospital District President & CEO Jacob Cintron lauded the leadership, recognition and advanced care provided by Dr. Aidinian at the UMC Healthcare Partners Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Center.
“Thank you, all, for your ongoing advancement in our vascular surgery program,” said Mr. Cintron. “Since we opened our new Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Center, many patients in our region have experienced the high level of vascular surgery expertise provided by Dr. Aidinian and his team. His leadership and our strong partnership with Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso are greatly appreciated – and they are two key reasons why we are included in this registry.”

TTUHSC El Paso President Richard Lange, M.D., M.B.A., said the achievement is a benefit for the entire community and will positively impact the region’s patients.
“I’m proud of the great work put forth by Dr. Aidinian and his team, which is another example of the good our combined efforts with UMC does for our Borderplex community,” said Dr. Lange. “Membership in the VQI Registry not only benefits patients for years to come, but puts El Paso on the map for top-quality vascular care and research.”

Membership into the Registry is an important demonstration of the UMC Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Center’s commitment to quality. Participation in VQI helps to increase knowledge about vascular health care, designed to improve quality.
