Health, Dental and Vision Insurance
As a hospital, it is important for us that our Associates stay healthy.
We make sure our Associates have access to affordable healthcare services by offering medical, vision, and dental health insurance to full-time and part-time Associates.
Our medical and prescription plans are provided through Preferred Administrators, which offers pharmacy benefits, flexible spending account (FSA), COBRA continuation coverage, and a UMC retiree benefit plan.
Preferred Administrators is a third party administrator contracted to manage health insurance coverage for all Associates and retirees of the El Paso County Hospital District; and employees at El Paso Children’s Hospital.
Preferred Administrators is administered by El Paso Health (EPH), which is a subsidiary of the University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC).
There are two options for dental insurance through MetLife Dental.
Dental Plan HMO:
- In-Network Dentists Only
- Offers dental discounts through select providers
- Costs and discounts are based on services selected
Dental Plan PPO:
- May select in or out of network providers
- In-Network Dentists
- No Claim Forms
- In-Network Service Discounts (Average 30% less)
- Out-of-Network Dentists
UMC’s vision insurance is provided through Superior Vision Services.
Copays for in-network providers are as follows:
- Eye exam: $10
- Contact lens fitting: $25
- Frames and/or eye glasses lenses: $25
- There is an allowance of $120 for frames or $140 for contacts
