University Medical Center of El Paso is proud to partner with the March of Dimes to prevent premature births and we are proud to say that we've made some great strides in that direction. Take, for example, our decision to embrace the March of Dimes' call-to-action to eliminate non-medically necessary inductions/C-sections prior to the 39th week of pregnancy.

UMC takes this topic so seriously because we're all too familiar with the consequences of premature birth. For example, did you know that every year, 15 million babies are born prematurely worldwide? More than a million die and many, many more face serious, often lifelong health challenges. We join the March of Dimes and former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Regina Benjamin in their efforts to raise awareness of this serious problem so that together, we can prevent it.

Remember, a full-term pregnancy is 40-weeks and every week counts!
